Bronze will not rust or deteriorate when exposed to the weather; however, after many years the surface of unprotected bronze will naturally form a soft green patina or tarnish. To prevent this process and help preserve the original appearance of the bronze the plaques are treated with a protective finish. This finish, especially as used on older markers, does dull and deteriorate over time. We can, however, restore the plaque to a like new appearance. The new protective finishes now used are more durable and will maintain the original appearance of the plaque for a much longer time. While we cannot promise a finish exposed to the elements will last forever, our materials and workmanship are guaranteed to be of the best quality currently available.
